Major 22-week roadway and drainage overhaul launches along Westwood Blvd. East in Tamarac with completion aimed for late July 2026
Tamarac, Florida – Drivers and residents along Westwood Blvd. East will soon see crews moving in as a major roadway and drainage upgrade gets underway.
Construction is set to begin Feb. 25 along Westwood Blvd. East, stretching from McNab Road to NW 94th Ave. The work is expected to last about 22 weeks, with completion targeted for July 27, 2026.
The project centers on strengthening both the road and the infrastructure beneath it. Crews will install improved underground drainage systems designed to better manage stormwater.

New sidewalks will also be added, creating safer and more accessible pathways for pedestrians traveling through the corridor. Once those improvements are in place, the roadway will be resurfaced with fresh asphalt to restore driving conditions along the route.
While the upgrades aim to deliver long-term safety and infrastructure benefits, short-term impacts are expected. Temporary lane closures and detours will occur throughout the construction period. Motorists are encouraged to follow all posted signs and traffic control devices as patterns shift during different phases of the project.
Officials say the improvements are part of ongoing efforts to enhance safety and modernize infrastructure within the community. Residents and drivers are asked for patience as work progresses over the coming months.
