Mango, Soursop and more headline Broward County’s free drive-thru tree giveaway set to take place early October

Tamarac, Florida – A free tree, five varieties and four hours to claim one, Broward County residents will have a limited window this fall to add something new to their yards without spending a dollar.

The Broward County Free Tree Giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, from 8 a.m. to noon at Miramar Pineland Park, with trees available only while supplies last. The drive-thru event is being presented by Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis of District 7.

Residents will be able to choose from five tree varieties: Soursop, Mango, June Plum, Sweetsop and Simpson Stopper. The selection gives households several options, whether they are looking for a fruit-producing tree or simply want to bring more greenery to their property.

There is one important limit. Each Broward County household may receive only one tree, and proof of county residency will be required at the event.

Organizers are encouraging people to arrive early, particularly those hoping to take home a specific variety. Since the giveaway continues only while supplies last, some species could become unavailable before the event ends.

The distribution is designed as a drive-thru operation. Before arriving, participants are asked to clear enough space in the trunk of their vehicle to safely accommodate the tree. Once drivers reach the load-in station, they should place their vehicle in PARK while the tree is being loaded.

The four-hour, in-person event will take place at Miramar Pineland Park, located at 3600 South University Drive in Miramar.

The giveaway is open to Broward County residents ranging from experienced gardeners to people planting a tree for the first time. With five varieties available and no purchase required, the event provides households with a simple opportunity to add a new tree to their property.

Those planning to attend can find additional information through NatureScape’s Tree Giveaway page.

The Broward County Free Tree Giveaway runs from 8 a.m. until noon on October 3, but residents hoping for the widest selection may want to make Miramar Pineland Park one of their first stops of the morning.
