Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported a significant health concern on the Queen Victoria cruise ship, which departed from Fort Lauderdale on January 22nd.
A total of 139 individuals on board, including at least 120 passengers and 15 crew members, are experiencing symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting, indicative of a gastrointestinal illness.
In an effort to manage the outbreak and prevent further spread of the illness, the cruise line has taken prompt action. The CDC outlined that the affected passengers and crew have been isolated from the rest of the individuals on the ship. Additionally, measures to enhance cleaning and disinfection throughout the vessel have been intensified.
The Queen Victoria is currently en route to San Francisco and Hawaii, with the trip scheduled to conclude on February 12th. The ship is carrying more than 1,800 passengers and 950 crew members, making it a considerable challenge to contain the outbreak and ensure the health and safety of all on board.
