Florida – Gas prices in Florida have seen a change recently. On Sunday, the average price for a gallon of gas was $3.16. This figure marks a slight increase from the previous week, with an 8-cent rise. However, it’s only higher by 2 cents than the price on Christmas Day.
When compared to the same period last year, there’s a decrease in the average price. According to AAA, Florida drivers were paying about $3.30 per gallon last year. This current price indicates a positive trend for motorists, as they are paying less than they did a year ago.
The state average for gas in Florida is also lower than the national average. It’s currently about 8 cents cheaper. However, prices vary across different regions of the state. The highest prices are in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton area, where gas is at $3.31 per gallon. Naples and Fort Lauderdale follow closely, with average prices at $3.21 and $3.20 per gallon, respectively.
The most affordable gas prices can be found in the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach area. Here, the price per gallon is significantly lower at $2.82. Panama City and Pensacola also offer cheaper gas options, with prices at $2.83 and $2.88 per gallon, respectively.
An important factor influencing these prices is crude oil costs. Crude oil prices greatly affect gasoline prices, as they account for more than half of the cost. Recently, crude oil closed at $73.81 per barrel, showing an increase of nearly $2 per barrel (3%) from the previous week.
