Fort Lauderdale residents to experience intermittent road closures April 1–9 as FPL installs underground utilities along SW 12th Ct to SW 16th St

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Residents of Fort Lauderdale and commuters should to get ready for forthcoming road closures due to utility work brought on by Florida Power & Light (FPL). The work, which involves installing underground utilities, is scheduled to cause intermittent road closures along several streets from SW 12th Ct to SW 16th St.

Starting Tuesday, April 1, the closures are anticipated to run until Wednesday, April 9. During this period, closures will occur daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. These are not full-day closures, but rather periodic ones as the personnel advance with their tasks.

Affected areas include SW 12th Ct, SW 14th Ave, SW 13th St, SW 13th Ct, SW 15th Ave, SW 15th Ter, and SW 16th St. Though they will still have access to their homes, residents in these locations should plan for some delays and are recommended to give more time for travel.

Planned by FPL as part of a rolling operation, these closures are meant to move along the designated route as the installation advances. Though drivers and local neighbors should prepare for probable inconveniences, this strategy is meant to reduce disturbance as much as possible.

Detour signs placed all over the area will help motorists negotiate around the restricted portions of the route. These signs will direct drivers on other routes to guarantee that traffic flow is preserved and disturbances are minimized.

Upgrading the area’s electricity infrastructure and guaranteeing consistent service depend on the utility work. Although the sporadic road closures could be irritating temporarily, the changes will benefit the neighborhood in the long run. To prevent delays, residents and commuters are encouraged to prepare their routes in advance and be updated on the status of the project.
