Tamarac turns domestic violence awareness into action with free workshop focused on warning signs, reporting and support

Tamarac, Florida – Knowing what abuse looks like can be the difference between overlooking a dangerous situation and helping someone find a safer path forward. Tamarac residents will have a chance to learn those warning signs, and what to do next, during a free community workshop this month.

The Domestic Violence Workshop: Awareness to Action will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Tamarac Community Center, 8601 W. Commercial Blvd.

The two-hour session will focus on practical information people can use when they encounter domestic abuse, whether it affects them directly or someone they know.

Organizers say the workshop will provide expert guidance in a safe environment while connecting participants with local resources and support services.

The goal is to move beyond simply recognizing that abuse may be happening and give residents useful strategies for responding safely.

Participants will learn how to identify warning signs associated with domestic abuse and how incidents can be reported in a safe and effective way. The session will also cover practical approaches to self-protection and prevention, along with steps that may help reduce the risk of future harm.

Another part of the workshop will focus on the wider community. Residents will hear about the importance of building supportive surroundings where people feel able to speak up, report concerns and assist those who may need help. Information will also be provided on where individuals can turn for social services and other local support resources.
