Five-acre redevelopment transforms industrial corridor into arts and business destination in Fort Lauderdale
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The City of Fort Lauderdale marked a new chapter for Progresso Village with the official opening of the Thrive Art District, a five-acre redevelopment that reshapes a once-industrial stretch into a center for creativity and commerce.
Situated at 710 NW 5th Avenue, the district introduces more than 80,000 square feet of flexible space designed to nurture local businesses and draw visitors from across the region. What was previously an underused corridor now stands as a lively destination built around art, culture and entrepreneurship.

City leaders described the opening as a defining moment for both the neighborhood and Fort Lauderdale as a whole. Mayor Dean Trantalis said the project highlights the city’s focus on redevelopment that respects the character of existing communities while expanding economic opportunity.
“Today marks an exciting milestone for Progresso Village and for our entire city,” said Mayor Dean Trantalis. “The Thrive Art District reflects our commitment to thoughtful redevelopment that honors neighborhood character while creating meaningful economic opportunity.”
The Thrive Art District was made possible through collaboration. The City of Fort Lauderdale partnered with private developers and the Community Redevelopment Agency to bring the vision to life. That joint effort ensured the investment would strengthen the area while maintaining the distinct feel of Progresso Village.

With its mix of business space and creative energy, the Thrive Art District aims to spark ongoing growth. City officials believe the project signals a broader commitment to revitalizing key neighborhoods in ways that balance opportunity with preservation.
