Florida – Central Florida is preparing for the primary elections with early voting scheduled to start in several counties as the 2024 presidential contest gets momentum. Orange and Osceola counties residents starting August 5 can vote ahead of the primary election date on August 20.

For those who would vote by mail, August 8 is fast approaching as the application deadline. As of July 6, mail-in ballots have already begun to be sent to guarantee that those who prefer to use this method get their ballots in time to cast their votes.

Several counties have announced their early voting plans to help to minimize wait times and enable a seamless voting process:

  • Orange and Osceola Counties: Early voting starts on August 5 and continues until August 18, with polling places open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. respectively.
  • Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia Counties: These counties will begin their early voting on August 10 and conclude on August 17. The operating hours for these locations generally range from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., though some variations exist among the counties.

Voters in central Florida are urged to seize these early voting chances to prevent the possible throng on the primary day. Should citizens miss the August 20 votes, this period also lets them make sure their voices are heard.

Looking beyond the primary, the general election is scheduled for November 5, where the final decision on the next U.S. President will be made. Important days leading up the general election include a registration or registration update deadline on October 7, then another early voting period from October 21 through November 3.

Residents may visit their local election offices for further details on polling sites and times. Underlining the need of civic involvement in these important times, the early voting period offers a vital chance for all qualified voters to participate in forming the future of the country.
