Florida – Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a proclamation declaring that flags will be flown at half-staff across Florida to honor fallen firefighters. This tribute aligns with the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day, recognizing those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting their communities.

This year, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation will host the 43rd Annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend at the National Fallen Firefighters Monument in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The event is set to honor 226 firefighters who have given their lives for the safety and protection of their communities, with 89 of these brave men and women having perished in the year 2023 alone.
