Miami-Dade County, Florida – Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez is extending a special opportunity to small business owners in District 12 with the announcement of the Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program. This initiative is designed to support the local economy by offering financial assistance to small enterprises.

A Boost for Small Businesses

Starting February 12 through February 28, 2024, applications for the grant will be open, providing a chance for small business owners to secure up to $2,500 in funding. This funding aims to cover various business-related expenses, including supplies, equipment, liability insurance, advertising, and professional services like accounting, seminars, and events.

To be eligible, businesses must be for-profit entities that have been operating for at least one year and are located within Miami-Dade County’s District 12. Applications are available at the District 12 office, located at 8345 NW 12th St., Miami, FL 33126, or can be downloaded from the County website.

An important date for applicants is February 28, when a mandatory meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the Firefighters Memorial Building at 8000 NW 21st St., Miami, FL. This meeting will detail the application process and eligibility criteria. However, attendance at this meeting does not guarantee funding, and applicants are advised not to complete their applications before attending.

After the meeting, completed applications must be hand-delivered to the District 12 office from February 29 through March 7, during specific hours. It’s important to note that late applications will not be accepted, emphasizing the program’s strict adherence to deadlines.

The Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program aims to offer not just financial but also technical assistance to small businesses that qualify for the grant. Mom and Pop Grants are administered in collaboration with the respective Miami-Dade County Commissioners’ offices.
