Lauderhill, Florida – In the early hours of Friday morning, an incident unfolded at the Cypress Grove Apartment Homes in Lauderhill, as residents were forced to evacuate due to a fire that erupted on the fourth floor. The swift response from Lauderhill Fire Rescue played a crucial role in containing the blaze and ensuring the safety of the building’s occupants.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., emergency crews arrived at the scene, where they noticed flames coming from a fourth-floor window. Lauderhill Deputy Fire Chief Jeffrey Levy described the initial moments, stating, “Crews made quick entry into the building and saw that the fire was in the hallway of the fourth floor, and it appeared to have been an abundance of furniture that had been set ablaze.”

The situation was serious, with extensive smoke and flame damage to the fourth-floor corridor. Concerns were evident as additional 911 calls poured in, reporting people trapped in their apartments. Quick thinking and decisive action by the fire rescue team proved crucial. Levy advised those trapped to “shelter in place on their balconies” as the firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the fire’s spread.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames, preventing them from extending into adjacent apartments. Their efforts not only saved lives but also minimized property damage. Following the incident, the fire marshal was called in to investigate the possibility of arson.

Lauderhill Police said fire crews acted diligently to ensure the safety of all residents. Evacuations were carried out efficiently, and as investigations continue, residents will soon be allowed back into their apartments. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, but some residents were exposed to smoke during the evacuation. These individuals were promptly evaluated by fire rescue personnel.
