Broward County, Florida – Residents of Pembroke Pines are looking into a greener, more connected future with the start of the Flamingo Greenway Project, set to begin today, Monday, December 9th. Under management by Broward County’s Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division, this enormous project seeks to improve the green infrastructure in the area while providing additional leisure activities.
The first phase of this project will see the construction of a one-mile segment of the greenway on the west side of Flamingo Road, adjacent to the Snake Creek Canal, spanning from Pembroke Road to Pines Boulevard near C.B. Smith Park. Planned for completion in March 2026, this section has the potential to completely change the surrounding environment if everything goes as planned.
Project Manager Felix Garcia can be reached at 954-299-9956 or [email protected]. Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division can be reached at 954-357-6040. Once finished, the Flamingo Greenway will not only offer a safe and lovely route for locals to use but also significantly contribute to the environmental goals of the county.
Driven by the gas tax, the Flamingo Greenway will have a 12-foot-wide multipurpose path perfect for bicycling, walking, and other activities. Apart from the walkway, the project will have beautiful surroundings, educational signage, and shelters with benches and garbage cans thereby guaranteeing comfort and ease of use for every user.
When fully completed, the Flamingo Greenway will span 9.3 miles, thereby seamlessly connecting the current New River Greenway with Hiatus Greenway to the south, all the way to the Broward/Miami-Dade County line. Expected to be an important link for the society, this longer route encourages better living and closer ties across communities.
