Pembroke Pines, Florida – A significant legal decision was made in the case of a 29-year-old Broward County man earlier this month, marking the end of a series of violent crimes. Edmanuel Victoria, of Pembroke Pines, received a sentence of 216 months in federal prison on January 10. His sentence follows a guilty plea in November 2023 for a series of serious crimes, including two counts of armed bank robbery, one count of carjacking, and two counts of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
Victoria’s criminal activities came to light on March 29, 2023, when he carried out his first armed bank robbery in Broward County. He entered the bank with a calculated plan. Approaching a bank teller, Victoria presented a note that stated, “Give money gun,” while he lifted his shirt to reveal a black pistol tucked in his waistband. The terrified bank teller complied, handing over approximately $2,650 in cash. Victoria quickly took the money and made his escape.
However, his crime spree didn’t end there. On June 5, 2023, Victoria escalated his criminal behavior by carjacking a black Nissan Altima. The car’s owner was sitting in the driver’s seat when Victoria, wielding a gun, forcefully took possession of the vehicle. Two days later, on June 7, Victoria attempted another bank robbery. This time, he targeted an employee of an armored truck company outside a bank in Broward County. Threatening the employee at gunpoint, Victoria stole a currency bag just as the employee was about to start a cash pickup. He then used the stolen Nissan Altima to flee the scene.
Victoria’s run did not last long, as shortly after the second robbery, deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office and FBI agents located and arrested him. This swift response led to his capture and subsequent prosecution.
The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Markenzy Lapointe for the Southern District of Florida, Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey B. Veltri of the FBI Miami Field Office, and Chief of Police Kipp Shimeno of the Pembroke Pines Police Department. U.S. District Judge Rodney Smith imposed the sentence.
The case was thoroughly investigated by the FBI Miami’s Violent Crimes and Fugitive Task Force and the Pembroke Pines Police Department, with crucial assistance from the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
