Jacksonville, Florida – Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a directive for flags to be flown at half-staff across several locations in Florida in honor of former Representative Betty Holzendorf. The former legislator, who played a significant role in shaping the political landscape of Florida, died on February 29, 2024, at the age of 84.
Honoring a Legacy
Betty Holzendorf’s political journey began in the Florida House of Representatives, where she served the people of House District 16 from 1988 until 1992. Her commitment to public service and community improvement did not stop there.
She continued her work in the Florida Senate, representing District 2, from 1992 to 2002. Beyond her tenure as an elected official, Holzendorf remained actively involved in her community, demonstrating a lifelong dedication to public service.
To pay tribute to her contributions and legacy, Governor DeSantis stated, “As a mark of respect, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at the Duval County Courthouse in Jacksonville, Florida, the City Hall of Jacksonville, Florida, and at the State Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida, from sunrise to sunset on Monday, March 11, 2024.”
