Florida Lottery honors outstanding FFA student leaders and Bright Futures Scholarship recipients at state convention

Tallahassee, Florida – The Florida Lottery recently honored several outstanding student leaders during the Florida Future Farmers of America Convention, recognizing young people whose achievements in academics, leadership, and community involvement are helping shape the future of agriculture across the state.

The recognition ceremony brought together students, educators, advisors, and state officials to celebrate recipients of the Bright Futures Scholarship Program who have distinguished themselves through their involvement in Florida FFA.

Florida Lottery Secretary Reginald Dixon joined attendees at the convention and helped present special recognition to five student leaders who have combined strong academic performance with leadership roles in one of the state’s most respected student organizations.

“Florida’s students are the future of our state, and it is an honor to recognize these outstanding young leaders for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to success,” said Florida Lottery Secretary Reginald D. Dixon. “Through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program, the Florida Lottery is proud to help students pursue higher education and prepare for meaningful careers that strengthen communities across Florida.”

Student leaders receive special recognition

During the event, the Florida Lottery presented Bright Futures medallions to five student leaders in recognition of both their academic achievements and their service to the FFA organization.

Those recognized included Ryleigh Locke, who serves as Area II State Vice President; Reagan Rowe, Area III State Vice President; Trenton Felton, Area VI State Vice President; Isabelle Jenkins, State Secretary; and Hope Storter, State President.

Officials said the students exemplify the values of leadership, dedication, and service that the organization encourages among its members.

The recognition also highlighted the important role agriculture education programs continue to play in developing future leaders throughout Florida. Through FFA participation, students gain experience in leadership, public speaking, teamwork, and community service while exploring career opportunities in agriculture and related industries.

Bright Futures continues supporting higher education

The event also served as a reminder of the long-standing impact of the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.

Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $50 billion toward education initiatives throughout the state. During that time, more than one million students have received assistance through the Bright Futures program, helping make college and higher education opportunities more affordable for Florida families.

State officials say the scholarship program continues to open doors for students pursuing a wide variety of academic and career paths.

By honoring these five FFA leaders, the Florida Lottery not only recognized individual achievement but also highlighted the broader value of educational programs that encourage excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

As Florida’s agricultural industry continues to evolve, officials believe young leaders like those recognized at the convention will play an important role in shaping the future of their communities and the state’s economy. The recognition ceremony celebrated not only academic success but also the dedication and leadership qualities that can help students make a lasting impact in the years ahead.
