Sidewalk shutdowns and lane closures: Parkland’s big summer road repairs begin

Parkland, Florida – Sidewalk and road repair projects are about to get underway in Parkland, with work set to begin along two major stretches: Pine Island Road and Nob Hill Road. The County’s Public Works Department, specifically the Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division, will be in charge of this project. The goal is to make both the sidewalks better and fix the asphalt over the next few months.

On June 2, crews will start work on Pine Island Road between Holmberg Road and Trails End. Along this stretch, workers will fix a number of sidewalks to make them safer and easier for people to walk on. At the same time, teams will be fixing the asphalt to keep the road smooth and safe for traffic. On Nob Hill Road, on the other hand, the focus will be on resurfacing and patching between NW 66th Drive and Parkland Reserve Boulevard. The funds needed for these upgrades will come from gas tax revenues.

The building timeline anticipates it will be done by December 2025, but like with most outdoor work, bad weather and other problems that come up could cause delays. One lane of traffic in the work zones will be closed during off-peak hours while the repairs are going on. The lane next to it will be open so that cars can keep moving, although drivers may have to wait a little longer, especially when staff are working.

Pedestrians should also get ready for changes that will only last for a short time. While work is going on, some sidewalks will be blocked off. There will be detour signs to help those walking around work sites stay safe. Before the renovation starts, information boards will be put up to let drivers and pedestrians know about modifications and probable detours that are coming up.
