Reminder: More time for Tamarac neighborhoods to apply for beautification and sustainability funds

Tamarac, Florida – The City of Tamarac is extending the deadline for the Neighborhood Partnership Program, which gives local neighborhoods and homeowner associations more time to apply for funding to make their neighborhoods better. The new date to sign up is October 28.

The goal of the initiative is to boost community pride and make public places more beautiful through tiny but important neighborhood projects. Associations that meet the requirements can get matching funds of up to $4,999 for initiatives that make shared spaces better, encourage sustainability, and improve the overall quality of life in Tamarac’s residential areas.

If your neighborhood or homeowners’ association has been around for at least five years, is officially registered with the City, and is in good standing as a Florida not-for-profit company, you should apply. Associations must also have elected leaders, keep track of their meetings, and not have any code infractions that are still open.

The projects that get money from the program must be able to be seen from public roads and help the whole area. Some examples are improving the signs at the entry, changing hedges, planting trees along the street, and adding landscaping that doesn’t need a lot of water. Installing solar panels, improving lighting for safety, and making small outdoor fitness areas to encourage active living are some of the other projects that can get funding.

Participants must pay at least 50% of the project’s cost, which can come from donations from residents or “sweat equity,” which is volunteer work done by community members. To make sure people are responsible, 20% of the City’s grant money is kept until the project passes its final inspection. This is only valid if the work is done entirely by volunteers.

Each City Commission District can give out up to $10,000 in awards per year, and there is an extra $10,000 set aside for the whole city. This makes sure that areas all throughout Tamarac have an equal chance to get resources and make noticeable improvements to their communities.

Tamarac’s Neighborhood Partnership Program encourages neighbors to work together and makes neighborhoods cleaner, greener, and more pleasant. Associations that are interested can access the application form and eligibility rules at the official link.
