Early April violent daytime attack in Weston now has a suspect in custody after intensive detective work
Broward County, Florida – An arrest has now been made in a troubling assault case that shook part of Weston earlier this month, bringing a significant development to an investigation that began with a violent encounter in broad daylight.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Weston District took a 17-year-old male suspect into custody on Friday, April 17.

He was arrested on one count of attempted sexual battery in connection with an attack reported on April 8 near the 16300 block of Golf Club Road.
After the arrest, authorities said the suspect was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center for processing.
The case began at about 4:39 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon, when an adult woman, whose name has not been released, was sitting on the grass in the area. Investigators said she was suddenly grabbed from behind by an unknown male.
The woman fought back during the struggle. At some point, the attacker got up, put on his shoes, and ran from the scene on foot.
What followed was an intensive investigation by BSO detectives, who worked to identify and find the person responsible.
Authorities said the arrest came through a combination of technological tools and traditional investigative work, a process that ultimately led detectives to the teenage suspect.
Surveillance video became an important part of the case. Detectives said the footage showed a light-skinned male in a khaki hoodie and distinctive red-and-black pants in a nearby parking lot, where he was seen exposing himself and engaging in a lewd act.
Investigators said the same individual was later seen moving slowly toward the victim, appearing to watch the area around him before taking off his shoes and approaching her from behind.
The arrest marks a major update in a case that drew serious concern because of both the nature of the attack and the behavior described by investigators.
