Tamarac celebrates decade of giving with hygiene kit event for families and shelters
Tamarac, Florida – A 10-year milestone in Tamarac will be marked not with a formal ceremony, but with boxes, hygiene supplies and volunteers ready to lend a hand.
The City of Tamarac is inviting the community to celebrate a decade of service by helping pack hygiene care kits for people across Broward County who need everyday essentials.
Mayor Michelle J. Gomez and The Beauty Initiative Inc. will host the volunteer event on Saturday, August 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Tamarac Community Center, 8601 W. Commercial Blvd.
During the two-hour gathering, volunteers will assemble hygiene kits intended for students, families, shelter residents and other community members throughout Broward County. The effort is designed to help place basic personal-care items into the hands of people who may otherwise have difficulty accessing them.
The event puts service at the center of the anniversary celebration. Instead of simply recognizing the 10-year milestone, participants will have an opportunity to contribute directly to an effort serving people beyond Tamarac as well as within the wider Broward community.
Basic hygiene products can be easy to overlook, but the organizers are emphasizing their importance to everyday life. Access to those essentials can affect how people feel at school, at work and while navigating difficult circumstances.
“Together, we can help ensure everyone has access to the essentials they need to live with confidence and dignity,” the City said in announcing the event.

Residents interested in participating can join Mayor Gomez and The Beauty Initiative Inc. at the Tamarac Community Center between 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday.
The afternoon will combine the recognition of 10 years of service with a practical community project — packing care kits that will leave the event headed toward students, families, shelters and others across Broward County who need them.
