Miami, Florida – Miami-Dade County is set to receive substantial federal funding for a variety of community projects following the approval of Community Project Funding (CPF) requests for Fiscal Year 2024. The funds, amounting to $23,246,600, will be used to enhance infrastructure, services, and economic development within the county.

Strategic Investment in Community Development

Board of County Commissioners Chairman Oliver Gilbert expressed his gratitude and outlined the impact of these federal earmarks. “This funding demonstrates the federal government’s commitment to supporting Miami-Dade County’s pressing needs and priorities,” said Chairman Gilbert. He praised the efforts of local Congressional representatives, including Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, Congressman Carlos Giménez, and Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar, for their roles in securing the earmarks. Special thanks were also extended to Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz for securing additional funding for local educational institutions such as Florida International University and the University of Miami.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava highlighted the importance of these funds for the community. “These earmarks represent a significant investment in our community’s future,” Mayor Levine Cava said. “I’m grateful for the support from our federal partners, which will enable us to implement vital projects that benefit the nearly three million residents who call Miami-Dade County home, and the millions more who visit our community each year.”

The CPF funding was included in a six-bill package signed into law by President Biden on March 9, 2024, which designated a total of $86,534,899.50 for various projects within Miami-Dade County and its jurisdictions. Of this, $23,246,600 was directly allocated to the county for eleven specific projects.
