Reminder: The months-long Broward Boulevard sidewalk and curb ramp improvement project starts Monday, Feb. 24

Broward County, Florida – Major sidewalk and curb ramp improvements are set to begin along Broward Boulevard, bringing much-needed repairs to pedestrian pathways in the area. Under the direction of the Public Works’ Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division, the project will concentrate on improving accessibility and safety for homeowners heading between Hiatus Road and University Drive.

Crews will start working on fixing current sidewalks and upgrading pedestrian curb ramps to comply with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements Monday, February 24. Except for unanticipated delays brought on by weather or other circumstances, the effort is scheduled to run through August 29, 2025.

Construction will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during off-peak hours in order to cause as least disturbance. Still, drivers should be ready for occasional lane closures since one lane will be blocked off in the work zone. Pedestrians will also go through temporary detours; some driveways and sidewalks will become inaccessible for a few hours usually one to two days.

Variable message signs will be placed in the area for informing drivers and pedestrians to shifts in traffic flow, so keeping the public informed. Officials advise citizens to be cautious while navigating the construction zone and to make plans ahead.
