Miami, Florida – One person is now behind bars after shooting two women to death, the Miami Police Department confirmed. According to the available information, the shooting took place on Wednesday morning in a condominium building in Miami. The suspect was taken into custody after shooting his former girlfriend and her mother.
The main shooting suspect is 48-year-old Carlos Travieso
The shooting suspect, who was identified as Carlos Travieso, 48, somehow managed to enter the building and ambushed the victims. The identity of the suspect was also confirmed by neighbors who saw him entering the building just before the 9 a.m. shooting. Although Travieso was still not officially confirmed by police to be the suspect in the case, his ex-girlfriend still has photos of him on her social media profiles.

The suspect is now facing two counts of first-degree murder.
The double fatal shooting took place at the Yolanda Villas Condominium
Miami police confirmed that the incident happened at the Yolanda Villas Condominium at 801 Northwest 47th Avenue in the Flagami area. The victims were identified as 22-year-old Isbelsy Olivera, Travieso’s ex-girlfriend, and her mother, Irisbel Cartalla, 50. The shooting took place inside the building in victims’ residence.
Miami Police spokesperson Kiara Delva said police discovered the dead bodies after responding to the scene after a 911 shooting call. As the investigation is still in the early stages, police couldn’t officially confirm how the shooting suspect entered the building and how he managed to ambush both victims. The victims were living in the same residential unit. The mother was most of the time at the residence since she was proving cleaning services for the complex where she lived.
According to neighbors, the shooting is something nobody saw it coming since the victims were nice and they hadn’t experienced any problems with them.
Carlos Travieso reportedly turned himself in
Travieso reportedly turned himself in, but official confirmation from the Miami Police Department is still missing. There’s a security associate at the front gate so the suspect would’ve had to have breached that security point before he went upstairs.
“The investigation is ongoing, there’s still a lot of moving components, circumstances surrounding what led up to the shooting is under investigation,” Delva said. “The circumstances surrounding what led up to the suspect being able to gain access to the apartment complex is still under investigation as well, so there are still a lot of moving components to this investigation as far as how he gained access into the building.”
At this point, no more information is available, but we expect the police to release details about the incident on Thursday or Friday.
