Broward Sheriff’s Office invites youth to explore careers in law enforcement at Tamarac event

Broward County, Florida – The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) is inviting teenagers and young adults in the area to find out what it takes to have a successful career in law enforcement. On Wednesday, November 5, at 6:30 p.m., there will be an interest meeting for the BSO Explorer Program at the Tamarac District Office, located at 7515 NW 88th Avenue.

The Explorer Program gives teens and young adults a chance to see what it’s like to be a law enforcement official while also helping them learn how to lead and function as a team. It is specifically designed for those considering careers in law enforcement or criminal justice, providing a structured and supportive environment to help participants grow personally and professionally.

At the next meeting, people will be able to meet the current program directors, find out about the training activities, and learn how the program integrates education with community service. Explorers work closely with deputies and civilian staff, and they learn a lot through hands-on lessons, ride-alongs, and volunteer work that helps them understand their civic duties better.

The program is based on important values like accountability, discipline, and self-reliance. These are attributes that go beyond policing and will help participants in any field they choose. Explorers gain confidence and a sense of purpose by taking part in community service projects and real-life situations.

You don’t have to pay to go to the event, and you don’t have to sign up. People who are interested in working in public service or just want to make their town a better place are urged to come out and experience what the BSO Explorer Program has to offer.
