Broward County Public Schools earns top district grade for third straight year as more schools reach highest performance level
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Broward County Public Schools has once again earned the highest possible district rating from the Florida Department of Education, continuing a strong streak of academic achievement across the school system.
Earlier this week, on July 1, 2026, the Florida Department of Education released district and school grades for the 2025-26 school year. Broward County Public Schools received an “A” district grade for the third consecutive year, reflecting continued improvement in student achievement and school performance.
The newly released results also showed strong progress at individual campuses throughout the district.
More schools earn top grades across the district
According to the district, 129 Broward County Public Schools campuses received an “A” grade during the 2025-26 school year. Another 56 schools earned “B” grades, while 27 schools received “C” grades.
For the third consecutive year, no district-operated schools received either a “D” or “F” rating.
More than 60 percent of all district schools earned the state’s highest grade, while nearly 70 percent either improved their letter grade or successfully maintained an “A” rating from the previous school year.
The district also reported that 28 schools improved from a “B” in 2024-25 to an “A” during the latest grading period.
Seven schools made even greater gains by improving two full letter grades, moving from a “C” to an “A” in a single year. Those schools are McNicol Middle School, Watkins Elementary School, Lloyd Estates Elementary School, Pembroke Pines Elementary School, Royal Palm Elementary School, Morrow Elementary School, and Pines Lakes Elementary School.
An additional 17 schools advanced from a “C” grade during the 2024-25 school year to a “B” in 2025-26.
Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn credited the achievement to years of teamwork and dedication across the district.
“This is an incredible accomplishment that reflects our continued commitment to academic excellence and student success,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “This milestone is the result of years of intentional work, collaboration and an unwavering focus on helping every student succeed. I commend our teachers, school leaders, support professionals and all our employees who work hard each day to support our students. I also want to thank our School Board, families and community for their commitment to ensuring our students receive a world-class education.”
District leaders said the latest grades demonstrate continued academic growth throughout Broward County Public Schools and reflect the combined efforts of educators, students, parents, staff members, and community partners working together to improve educational outcomes across the district.
