Miami, Florida – Following recent approval by Miami-Dade officials, Miami International Airport is expected to improve traveler comfort by adding rentable rooms specifically for napping. Designed in partnership with South Florida’s Wait N’ Rest, this new facility seeks to offer a private haven for travelers needing a break between flights.
Starting on June 18, the contract specifies two sleep facilities positioned in the north and south terminals of the airport. With mattresses, Wi-Fi, noise-cancelling technology, and necessary charging connections, each center will provide privacy and convenience. These facilities represent a major improvement since the airport wants to satisfy the demands of its varied and heavy customer base.
Director and CEO of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department Rafael Cutié emphasized the cost structure, pointing out that using these facilities will set you between $30 and $60 hourly, Miami New Times reported. The project is not just passenger-oriented but also could be a profitable endeavor for the county. Based on a 25 percent revenue share agreement, estimates show Miami-Dade may make up to $10 million should the relationship run over the possible ten-year contract length.

The sleep centers have been designed to be only available to ticketed guests, so guaranteeing a safe surroundings. With soundproof walls and conveniences such air conditioning, clean linens, pillows, and self-service check-in and checkout devices for extra convenience, the roughly 34 square foot rooms will be really comfortable.
Although Miami International currently has a full-service hotel, it does not provide the flexibility of hourly room rentals, a market these new sleep centers will meet. Rising on the third level of both terminals, they offer a peaceful haven from the busy airport scene.
Miami International’s opening of such facilities comes rather later than other big American airports. Already providing like-minded conveniences to passengers, notable examples include Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and Philadelphia International Airport.
