Broward County Public Schools Superintendent to visit schools countywide as Broward celebrates first day of school on August 11

Broward County, Florida – More than 247,000 children in Broward County Public Schools are getting ready to go back to school on Monday, August 11, which marks the start of the 2025–26 school year. About 14,000 teachers will also start another year of leading, encouraging, and motivating young brains. The start of the new school year is also a big deal for a certain group: kindergarteners who are starting their first day as the Class of 2038.
Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn will spend the day visiting schools throughout the District to celebrate the event. From the first bell to the last, he will greet children and their families, talk to staff, and go throughout the classrooms to see how excited everyone is on the first day. The purpose of his visits is to reinforce the district’s basic principles, which are student success, supportive learning environments, and working together with the community.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome our students back for what promises to be an outstanding academic year,” said Superintendent Dr. Hepburn.
“Our dedicated teachers and staff have been working tirelessly to prepare engaging classes and enriching programs that will empower all students to reach their full potential. I am looking forward to visiting our schools on the first day and sharing in the energy and enthusiasm of a new year of learning.”
The Superintendent Hepburn’s day will start with a trip to Coconut Creek in the morning, where he will have breakfast with kids before going to other schools in the county. His visits will give people a chance to meet school leaders, see what goes on in class, and thank the teachers and support staff who are so important to the running of every school.
He will also be joined by members of the School Board, district leadership, and local government officials, all of whom support the students and families of Broward County.

The Broward County Public Schools puts a lot of emphasis on connection to the community and educational quality, and this yearly tradition of leaders being visible on the first day of school shows that. It’s a time of excitement and hope for families sending their kids to school, some of whom are doing it for the first time. And for BCPS, it’s the beginning of another chapter centered on learning, growth, and achievement.
