Ocklawaha man claims 10 million dollar Powerball prize after buying winning ticket at a Leesburg convenience store
Leesburg, Florida – A Marion County resident is celebrating a life-changing lottery win after claiming a $10 million Powerball prize just days after the winning drawing.
The Florida Lottery announced that Christopher Trail, 51, of Ocklawaha, claimed his $10 million prize at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee on March 18. His winning ticket matched the prize from the Powerball drawing held on March 11, 2026.
Trail purchased the lucky ticket from the Circle K convenience store located at 10030 County Road 44 in Leesburg. The purchase turned an ordinary lottery ticket into one of the state’s biggest recent POWERBALL prizes.
Powerball continues to generate billions for education
The Florida Lottery noted that Powerball has played an important role in supporting education throughout the state since Florida joined the multi-state game in 2009.
According to lottery officials, the game has generated more than $3.37 billion in contributions to education across Florida. During that same period, Florida has become one of the nation’s strongest Powerball markets.
Lottery records show that players in Florida have claimed more than 158 million winning Powerball tickets worth over $4.07 billion in prizes. Those winnings include 17 jackpot winners since the game was introduced in the state.
Officials encourage players to continue checking their tickets after every drawing, as prizes of varying amounts are awarded depending on how many numbers are matched.
The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Lottery officials estimate the jackpot will reach approximately $348 million.
Players hoping to participate in that drawing must purchase their tickets no later than 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time on drawing night.
Powerball drawings are broadcast live in high definition from the Florida Lottery’s draw studio in Tallahassee. Players can also watch the drawings through the Florida Lottery’s official website and YouTube channel. Winning numbers are available through the Lottery website, the free mobile application, authorized lottery retailers throughout Florida, and by calling the Lottery’s player information line.
Christopher Trail’s multimillion-dollar prize serves as another reminder that a single ticket can dramatically change someone’s future while continuing to support education programs across the state through Florida Lottery sales.
