Tamarac gives families a head start on the school year with free resources and a backpack giveaway on August 8
Tamarac, Florida – A backpack may be the easiest item to spot on a back-to-school list. The harder part is finding the programs, services and community support that can help a student stay prepared long after the first bell rings.
Tamarac families will be able to find both in one place during the city’s Back-To-School Resource Fair, a free event built to help students begin the new school year with supplies, information and useful local connections.

The fair will take place Saturday, August 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tamarac Community Center, located at 8601 W. Commercial Blvd. Admission is free, and families will have access to school resources at no cost.
The first 200 students to arrive will receive a free backpack filled with school essentials and educational materials. With the giveaway limited to 200 students, families hoping to receive one may want to make the backpack stop an early part of their morning.
Still, the event is about more than filling a school bag.
Families can explore educational resources, after-school programs, wellness services and family support options. Community organizations and service providers will also be available, giving parents and students an opportunity to learn about assistance that may remain useful throughout the school year.
The fair is designed as a starting point for families preparing for the return to classrooms. Parents can gather information, students can pick up supplies, and both can discover programs available in the Tamarac community.

At 11:30 a.m., attention will turn to the Back-to-School Fashion Show, “Rip the Hallways: The Re-Mix.” Students will take the spotlight and show off their fresh styles for the upcoming school year, adding entertainment and personality to an afternoon centered on preparation.
The timing gives families three hours to visit resource tables, connect with local programs and enjoy the fashion show. There is no admission charge, and the school resources offered during the fair are also free.
For Tamarac households working through the final details before school begins, the event offers a chance to handle several parts of the checklist in one trip. A new backpack may bring families through the door, but the services and community connections could prove just as valuable once the school year is underway.
